Restoring Quality and Confidence in Automotive Manufacturing:

The Situation:

A Tier 1 automotive supplier in Spain faced an unexpected leadership gap after their Quality Manager left the business. With customer standards at risk and internal processes lacking clarity, the company needed a rapid solution to avoid disruption.

The absence of leadership had led to growing client concerns, unresolved quality issues, and inefficiencies in production and waste management. With no internal candidate ready to step up, the business required immediate interim support to stabilise operations, protect client relationships, and prepare for long-term continuity.

The Solution:

IXPA’s partner in Spain deployed an experienced interim Quality Manager to take over the role without delay

The initial priority was to ensure product compliance and customer satisfaction, both internally and at the client’s premises.

Once compliance was restored, the interim leader focused on identifying and resolving root causes of process issues using structured problem-solving methods, including 8D, 5Why, and Ishikawa tools. They also rebuilt the quality department’s internal structure, strengthened interfaces between production and quality, and reduced internal waste.

Importantly, the interim executive also prepared the business for long-term continuity by mentoring and training the incoming permanent Quality Manager, ensuring a smooth transition without loss of momentum.

The Outcome:

The engagement delivered both immediate and lasting results. All customer audits were successful passed, client claims were resolved promptly and professionally, and the company saw improvements at a qualitative, relational and cultural level.

With a newly appointed and well-prepared permenant Quality Manager in place, the business is now positioned for long-term operational stability and client confidence.
